This week celebrate all things mangos with Fairchild Tropical Garden's 24th Annual Mango Festival. This year the festival will feature mangoes from Cuba. As always the festival will include cooking demonstrations, tasting opportunities, and both mangos and mango trees for purchase.
If you also happen to be one of the lucky few who has a mango tree on your property Mangoes to Share is an organization that collects mangos throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties. The group then donates them to nearby homeless shelters, such as Camillus House and the Miami Rescue Mission. In it's second year, the organization is expanding, picking up other discarded tropical fruits such as star fruit, lychee and avocados. If you are interested in donating your fruit, contact the organization here.
