On Friday, April 15th HistoryMiami presents a one of a kind conversation between photo journalist Tim Chapman and author and Herald columnist, Carl Hiaasen. Though thoughtful discussion the two will discuss Chapman's long career and his views of the Miami community. Concurrently, the museum debuts Newsman, The Photojournalism of Tim Chapman which includes images, press passes, journals and artifacts that chronicle the arc of Chapman's career. The talk starts at 6:00 pm.

National Water Dance Brings Together 32 States

In celebration of water 1500 dancers across 32 states will gather together on Saturday, April 16 at 4 pm to perform a site-specific dance at a river, a lake, the ocean, or any water site nearby. 

The Miami performance of National Water Dance will feature 90 dancers and 100 singers and musicians at the Deering Estate at Cutler, as part of their Festival of the Arts, at 4pm on Saturday, April 16. The dance artists will perform to an original percussion score created by Brandon Cruz, director of South Florida Center for Percussive Arts, based on Beethoven’s Ode to Joy and will be sung by the Bridgeprep Academy of Arts & Minds choir. Students from participating schools will also share original poetry inspired by water. Admission is free.

Trans Atlantic Festival at North Beach Bandshell

The Rhythm Foundation presents the 14th edition of the Trans Atlantic Festival for two days at the North Beach Bandshell on Friday, April 8 and Saturday, April 9th. Bringing together an eclectic band list from all over the Americas the festival is meant to reflect "the sound of the world right now" bringing musicians together from genres including indie rock, American folk, jazz, synth and r&b.
