On August 13th, spend an evening with singer/songwriter Ray LaMontagne at The Fillmore Miami Beach. The American musician will be making a stop in Miami as part of the Ouroboros 2016 tour for his sixth studio Ouroboros. The album was produced by My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James and while James has not confirmed he will be on tour, his bandmates will be sharing the stage with LaMontagne. The artist has a unique sound, citing Stephen Stills, Richard Manuel, and Rick Danko as strong musical influences.

ICA IDEAS: “PICTURES OF SUSAN”

The Institute of Contemporary Art, (ICA) Miami presents the South Florida premiere of “Pictures of Susan,”  on Thursday, July 21st. The feature documentary is about the emerging New Zealand-based artist Susan Te Kahurangi King. The film examine's the artist's history, her early works and her recent resurgence, as a result of a renewed interest in the art world, as of 2008. With the enduring support of her family, King creates expressive, boldly undulating works of color and line that frequently coalesce into appropriated cartoon-like characters, predating Pop art.

The presentation is part of the ICA IDEAS initiative focused on "defiant subjectivities." ICA IDEAS is a museum program that hopes to expand the reach and meaning of exhibitions on view, while providing dynamic modes of creation and interaction outside the exhibition format. RSVP required, admission is free.
